My recent review of Mont-Blanc can be found here. Long queues are always expected at Mont-Blanc so avoid the peak hours if you can. There are two different mont blancs served here - a traditional French one and a hugely popular Japanese version with chestnut cream, whipped cream and meringue all sitting on top of something that resembles a cupcake. Just a stone's throw from Jiyugaoka Station, Mont-Blanc is the birthplace of the Japanese mont blanc. Besides his seasonal desserts, he also offers other traditional French pastries as take-out options including his mont blanc, chocolate tart and mille feuille, all came with a contemporary twist.Īddress: 4/F Tokyu Plaza Ginza, 5-2-1 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan Esquisse Cinq is literally his playground to show off his skills which have made him a prominent figure at L'Atelier Joël Robuchon during his four-year tenure. My recent review of Pierre Gagnaire Pains et Gateaux can be found here. Don't let the small selection fool you coz they have some of the best pastries in town including a very delicate mont blanc. The three Michelin starred chef's bakery shop is hugely underrated due to its location inside a relatively dated hotel but for someone who spent a fair amount of time staying at Intercontinental ANA hotel as a business traveler, I learned to appreciate what this little bakery has to offer. Website: Pierre Gagnaire Pains et Gateaux My recent review of Dominique Ansel Tokyo can be found here. Dominique Ansel's chestnut rose cassis Mont Blanc offers a modern spin to the classic French dessert, with chestnut cream that is accented with rose and cassis, a salted butter cookie base and vanilla meringue as topping. Īddress: Shinjuku Lumine 2 1F, 3-38-2 Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, JapanĪ trip to Omotosando is not complete without checking out what the cronut master has in store for us in Tokyo. My recent review of Ladurée Shinjuku can be found here. A very good choice if you're looking for a mont blanc with some nice acidity. Ladurée's Mont-Blanc Agrumes has a wonderful mix of meringue with citrus fruit jam and chantilly cream with candied chestnut, all topped off with a little bit of chestnut cream and vermicelli chestnuts. Ladurée's the bread and butter has always been their macarons but don't take their pastries lightly coz they have got some seriously good ones including a very serviceable mont blanc cake. And the beauty of it - you can see it done right in front of your eyes by the talented chefs behind the counter. Set in a theatrical setting, his namesake dessert bar features a refined version of mont blanc called Ukishima, which has a mix of chestnut cream, red bean paste, green tea sauce and toasted tea ice-cream. Toshi Yoroizuka is one of the top pastry chefs in Tokyo and his dessert bar at Midtown is one of the best in the business. Īddress: Tokyo Midtown B1F, 9-7-4 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan My recent review of Pâtisserie Sadaharu Aoki Paris can be found here. It's the perfect way to kick off the chestnut season. His version of mont blanc features a unique combination of noisette crumble, red berries and chestnut cream. Sadaharu Aoki is the best pâtissier Japan has ever produced and every year close to the winter holidays, the Japanese pastry master will showcase his mont blanc at all of his boutiques. Here is a list of our favorite cafés and dessert spots with the best killer mont blanc handpicked for you! Mont blanc is arguably one of the most popular cakes in Tokyo but who really has the best one in the city? While all signs point to Café de Ginza Miyukikan as the place to go, there are far better options than you can imagine.
